David joined LGS Data Processing Consultants in August 1985 as an IDMS Consultant in Ottawa and left LGS March 29th 1986 to join CGI (Ottawa).

David was assigned to a single project while at LGS.

Revenue Canada Customs and Excise Harmonization project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Harmonized Systems Project was the first of several projects that automated the processes used to control the import of commercial goods into Canada from the point of cargo/release through the adjustment of historical data. This initial project harmonized the product codes used by Canada and its international trading partners.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
Mr. Lyon’s primary responsibility was the development and support of the Integrated Data Dictionary (IDD).
The following summarizes key tasks Mr. Lyon performed:

  • Designed and implemented several dictionary utilities and interfaces; wrote and customized the data dictionary reports used by the project; participated in the review and development of dictionary standards and procedures.
  • Involved with database design walkthroughs; database performance monitoring and tuning; database backup and recovery; IDMS product support and training
